The book we’re going to be speaking about today, and I want to let my listeners know is Wealth Creation for Coaches, that she co-wrote with Steve Chandler. And for those of you who don’t know, Steve, you can look him up. He has authored many books as well, and is really an expert on this topic. And we’ll be mentioning that during the podcast. One of the other things I want to mention, is because Gay Hendricks has been on before, is another book you cowrote is called The Conscious Luck Workbook.

For years I’d put my military career in a box as something I “used to do.” I also put my epic financial failure after the military in that box. In Pat Wetzel’s extraordinary podcast, “Bump In the Road” I share more about how my bumps have led to some phenomenal life experiences.

Kamin Samuel was the first African American woman to fly helicopters in the Navy. She flew a CH-46 Sea Knight Helicopter, went on numerous deployments and worked as a flight instructor at NAS North Island.

Kamin left the Navy after nine years. She was juggling her navy duties with a start up business. But with her departure, she owed the Navy money for her training. Her business was suddenly in jeopardy.

I was blessed to be interviewed by Dr. Thea Fiore-Bloom and featured in L.A. Parent magazine on money and wealth post-COVID.

           Here’s the article:

           "

Kamin Samuel, Ph.D., was the U.S. Navy’s first African American woman helicopter pilot, but that role had nothing on the job of parenting. “Even though my job was to fly helicopters, I’m clear on what the hardest, most courageous job on the planet is — parenthood,” Samuel says. Luckily for us, she also happens to be an expert on neuroplasticity and the brain’s ability to rewire itself around money.

I reached out to Samuel for some insights because the stress and economic hardships dealt by the COVID-19 crisis have made the courageous job of parenting more challenging than ever.

Her acumen for creating wealth after a crisis is the result of her years of military service, personal triumph over bankruptcy, success as a business leader and international wealth coach, as well as her role as a board member for the EduCare Foundation, an L.A.-based nonprofit that aims to cultivate compassionate leadership skills in children.

Here are a few of Samuel’s tips on how to financially flourish even during these times.

What do you say to folks who may be stressed or anxious because their family is in a tough place financially right now?

I’d say what I wish I could have said to myself coming out of my own bankruptcy and foreclosures, and that is this: “The amount of money I have at this moment does not define me. It’s not who I am. It just reflects an aspect of what I do in the world. I can create, recreate and reinvent myself and my opportunities at any time, starting today.”

Are there any action steps you recommend parents take to help get confidence and serenity back around money?

Many people don’t realize how much energy goes into worrying about not being able to handle another pandemic or emergency if one occurs. One great way for a parent to dial the pressure down is to set up a 10-month emergency fund. In the beginning, it’s normal to imagine your weekly contributions will never amount to enough. But you’ll be surprised how quickly your money will add up and how getting kids involved may transform the stress into a game.

The pandemic prompted many parents to ask “What if something happens to me or my spouse? How will my kids get by?” Any advice?

Setting up health directives, wills and college funds are tasks most of us want to put off. I understand. But my own life journey from financial struggle to financial prosperity has led me to run toward the hard stuff. I now know the sooner those big-picture things are taken care of, the sooner I’ll enjoy a greater sense of well-being and optimism. That’s good for two reasons. First, well-being and optimism create the perfect conditions for wealth to grow. And second, science has proven that optimistic people live healthier, longer lives.

Speaking of science, what is neuroplasticity and what financial benefit can it offer parents now?

Neuroplasticity is the ability of our brain to literally change in response to new information or stimulation. Science has proven we can rewire our brains to achieve a goal.

This is the methodology many Olympians have used to achieve success. When Olympians are mentally rehearsing or simulating what they wantto create in their lives, their brains don’t actually know that the positive things they are imagining are not already real. So, their brains go ahead and create new neural pathways to help the athletes achieve their heart’s desire. And we can do that, too — around our money.

My work asks, “What if wealth is an inside game?” “What if you could transform your wealth and life from the inside out?” “And what practical action steps could you take to make that dream a reality?”

What’s one last piece of advice you’d give to parents who are trying hard but may feel overwhelmed emotionally or financially now?

It’s OK to make financial mistakes. We all make them. In the past, I took my mistakes personally. I felt shame. I thought I was a failure. When, in reality, all that happened was that what I tried in that particular instance didn’t work out. The same holds true for you.

See your mistakes as mis-takes, like in film. If you make a mis-take, say to yourself, “OK, let’s try that shot a different way.” Give yourself lots of do-overs.

As Maya Angelou said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better.”

Join me as I talk to Charlie Hedges about life post-COVID.

Kamin and I will discuss the idea that “reinventing your life” is more about reprioritizing than it is about major changes. Of the many insights Kamin brings to us, we discuss three excellent questions that Kamin posed to me concerning what I may have learned about my work and my life during Covid: (1) Did I love my work? (2) Was it meaningful? And (3) Did I begin to feel that I am built for something more in alignment with my talents and desires, not to mention in alignment with my soul.

Once again, Kamin is brilliant and sets us off to a great start at Reinventing Ourselves Post Covid.”

The Working Coach Concept – Part II

Recently, someone asked me where I came up with the concept of the “working coach.”

A few years ago, I became obsessed with Hallmark movies and I noticed something interesting. I saw the same actors over and over again in movie after movie. About the same time, I was watching a documentary featuring the actor Chris Pine, star of the 2009 Star Trek series and many more blockbuster hits. He was talking about his father, Robert Pine and how he was a working actor. His dad got up every day and went to a set. One of the roles I knew him most for was playing Sgt. Joe Getraer on CHiPs back in the late 1970s…okay I’m dating myself. All of these actors showed up for work each day, honed their craft and went to work.

As I listened to Chris and looked at his father’s vast acting career, I saw a parallel to the coaching industry. There are many blockbuster coaches that make over $500,000 a year. There are also what I call the working coaches, that get up and work their business every day, day in and day out. AND, they make a very good living doing what they love, serving people and changing lives.

Another group of coaches that I have seen are those that want the money, life and lifestyle of the blockbuster coaches, but haven’t learned to put in the work. They put in less than 15 hours total during the week…most of which is thinking about coaching, working on websites and marketing, not actually coaching. They’re not yet making a living as a coach. Many just aren’t sure how to put together a prosperous coaching practice or haven’t learned the systems to working this like a career.

Becoming a great and prosperous coach should be viewed like any other profession. It takes time to study, to practice, to put in the hours…like a doctor, lawyer, professional athlete. Many people come to coaching because they’re great listeners and have helped their friends and family a lot. They are the go to person for when problems arise.

But making a living as a coach means more than that. First and foremost, it requires personal development, as well as professional development, which is unique to this industry. Part of the work I do with coaches is to understand the part of them that might be holding them back or preventing them from reaching the success they desire and helping them clear those blocks. It’s some of the most rewarding I get to do…helping coaches help more people achieve their dreams.

Coaching is an amazing profession, whether for sports, life or business. And, life and business coaching can prove to be a very lucrative career.

If you’re a coach and you’re not achieving the results you want or making the money you’d like, let’s have a conversation. It may be all you need to jumpstart your career and create a working prosperous practice.

Our Definition of Luck

           Our Definition of Luck

In Conscious Luck, we define luck as an ever-present force that you can harness consciously to flourish on all levels of life—mentally, emotionally, physically, and financially.

Although there will always be an element of chance to luck—both good and bad—research in the field of Positive Psychology and the experiences of consistently lucky people show that a great deal of your luck can be changed, and quickly, with some conscious attention on your part.

Just as there are rules for improving your health—get enough sleep, eat a balanced, fresh diet, stay hydrated, exercise regularly—there are specific guidelines for improving your luck.

We love the analogy Stanford University professor, Dr. Tina Seelig, uses to explain this: “Luck is rarely a lightning strike—isolated and dramatic—but a wind that blows constantly . . . You need to build a sail—made up of certain tiny behaviors—to catch the winds of luck.”

The eight Conscious Luck Secrets provide the step-by-step instructions for building that sail and harnessing the winds of luck.

Reading Conscious Luck started your journey to intentional good fortune and using the tools in the following pages will accelerate that process. When you fully integrate the eight Secrets into your daily life, you can’t help but be luckier.

In this episode of The Next Chapter, Charlie Hedges and I had wanted to talk about how to Discover Your Zone of Genius. However, this interview went into how COVID was/is the most creative time in our lives and I address how to shift what we call “difficult times.” We also cover how to shift negative thoughts.

Hey Paul. I am especially interested in our show today, as we will discuss, at least in part, how each of us contains a Zone of Genius hungering to make an impact. This show if filled with insight and tangible steps to becoming the kind of person you really want to be.

I’m so impressed with Kamin that I have set a date for personal coaching regarding my future at 71 years old—yes 71, by birthday was yesterday.

I had the absolute privilege and pleasure of being interviewed by my husband, as I lovingly refer to as, The Mark Samuel. We had so much fun having a Facebook Live discussion. I shared about my corporate career, struggles with communicating in the corporate world after the military, the work I do with leaders now on mindset and being a conscious leader and tips leaders can use to make a meaningful difference with their direct reports.

What experience has inspired you the most in your journey of becoming a conscious business leader?

I would have to say my degree at the University of Santa Monica. I spent nine years in the military as a Navy helicopter pilot and my communication skills coming out of the military weren’t exactly the best fit for corporate – I was used to giving orders, to being very direct. The problem was in corporate they don’t appreciate that. They don’t take orders as well as they do in the military! I had to learn some new communication skills. I looked for programs and I really wanted to find a program that was very heart centered, one that would allow me to manage people better. That was really the first entree into conscious business.

What 3 tips would you give any leader for making a meaningful difference in the lives of their direct reports?

           1. To care. I had to learn to care because I was so mission oriented. I cared about the mission. I really cared about my people. It’s only the other people outside of there that I had to work on – to care about them and be compassionate without being intrusive.

           2. Empowering people. I really learned this from the military – empowering people to make their own decisions and to grow. It wasn’t very popular when I became an executive to do this, but there were meetings where my direct reports and I were in and I stopped going because my direct reports really were the people who had to take action and follow through, but if I was in there, they weren’t listening with the same skill level as if I wasn’t there. I allowed them to watch me answer questions, learn from how I was in meetings, and then, I set them free, so that they would make their own decisions, make their own agreements with other teams on delivery. Even if they knew that I probably wouldn’t have made that agreement, as long as they knew that they were accountable for whatever decisions they had made, I backed them up. It was one of the ways that I was able to develop leaders where other leaders began to see them in new ways. When it came time for promotions, it was easier to get them promoted because people knew what they were capable of.

This also includes giving people autonomy and encouraging critical thinking with mentoring & support. One thing that managers forget is that their people aren’t them. We can give them the information and set them free, but we, as managers, are responsible for helping them with their critical thinking, helping them think differently. We can’t expect them to do it without training, without mentorship.

I let my team know that I don’t promote them. My boss with the budget promotes them. If they have no visibility with my boss and the other bosses, they’re not getting any extra money. It gave them a sense from the very beginning. You can impress me all you want, but you have to be willing to step in, step up into a meeting. Let me also add, practice. Some of my wonderful, wonderful managers would flush up and get really embarrassed. We practice for speeches. I practice. Whenever I was going into a meeting and I had to present, I practice the night before, almost to the point of memorizing, because I never left it up to chance.

           3. Help team members with their personal development, help them grow as individuals so that they can continue to learn and grow in their careers.

What are 1 to 3 mindset changes business leaders need to make in order to truly create a working environment that fosters inspiration, connectedness, and transformational personal growth?

           1. Conscious leaders have to develop themselves.

           2. For leaders, it’s also about spending time with their people more than just their one on ones…getting to know them and spending time with them – so that they know when I say, “I have an open door policy,” I mean that. Most of the time, I just listen. When I’m working with my clients who are business leaders and consultants and coaches because I teach a lot of those and coach a lot of coaches, it’s that ability to sit as a leader and call forth, not be the expert in somebody else’s life. If you know them, you can create a safe place for them to tell you what’s actually going on, how are they thinking and that’s one way you can teach critical thinking, is to give them the space to tell you what they’re doing, walk you through the process.

            3. One other aspect about caring, especially during this COVID time, it’s helpful to check on your people more from the perspective of how their natural way of being is. If they’re introverted like myself, going through lockdown and quarantine, yay. The extroverts, my extrovert leaders, oh, my goodness, they struggled the first couple of weeks so much because they’re so used to human contact. Understanding people’s nature, understanding how they are so that we can be there for them in a different way is so important.

How do you see the connection between business success and personal transformation for today’s leaders?

I work with people on what we call the being and the doing line. A lot of people come to me who want to make more money, want to grow their businesses, want to grow their careers and that’s what in USM or the University of Santa Monica terms is going on the goal line. They’re going after a goal, make more money, get their career, but it’s who we are being which is the soul line.

Whether you come from a spiritual perspective or not, the being versus doing line works. The waking up versus growing up line of thinking works also.

It is that actual elevation in consciousness – who are we being? That is why personal growth, our own personal growth matters. The highest point on that soul line, waking up line, being line is God if you’re spiritual, love, creativity. Those are the highest peaks. The more we grow into that, the more we see life from a different perspective.

Some of my executives, my amazing executives who come to me have all the money, homes, stuff, but they’re not sleeping at night. They’re not able to … They’re worried all the time. They’re not loving what they’re doing either.

Some of that, I call bankruptcy of the soul. We work on who are they being, how are they seeing … one of the terms I also use is Boogeyman in the closet. How are they seeing all the external threats, whether it’s COVID, whether it’s something else?

If you have enough elevation, you have creativity. You can actually solve a situation differently.

My business brick and mortar people and professors got online faster than anyone in the initial weeks of COVID because we weren’t coming from the bottom of the ladder on what , my dear friend, coach, mentor, Steve Chandler calls the ladder of consciousness.

At the bottom of the ladder is fear, worry, grief, all of that. At the top, again, is love, connectivity, creativity, spirit …and looking for the blessing.

The first question I ask under any circumstances, whether it’s pandemic, Black Lives Matter, anything is, “How is this here to bless you? How is this here to help you learn and grow?”

How can conscious business leaders better support people of color to create fair opportunities in the workplace?

Take inventory. How have you been up until this point? What have you done, not from a place of blame or judgment, but were there opportunities to help a person of color advance that wasn’t taken, that they were overlooked? Again, take an objective, get higher, as you would say, so you can see and from an observation point, “What happened? What can I do better?”

When you do that, then you can take stock of what you would do next time. Many of my leaders are devouring information, books on Black Lives Matter – they’re a little bit in overload and so what I’ve been saying is, “Make sure to take time to integrate and decide what kind of leader you want to be.” I’m encouraging myself, first, to do some mentorship. I encourage them to do mentorship, to help people grow. It could be a skills issue, right? Not everyone has access to the same education. If it’s a skills issue, that’s an easy one to fix. Get them the training that they need that is a gap between them and somebody else. Everybody wins when we have different points of view, diverse views of how we create products. Anybody in a business at any level can have the thing, have the idea that turns something around.

What was it like for you growing up being African American? How do you think that ended up shaping you becoming a leader and then a business consciousness, conscious leader at the same time?

My parents just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary yesterday and I grew up in all-white areas. We were literally the only family in an all-white area for one of two for miles. There was a lot of minding our Ps and Qs, speaking articulately, speaking in a way that didn’t draw any extra attention to yourself, knowing our manners which my mother was very good at making sure we knew our manners. That was a way to keep us safe.

My mom was a principal of a very large high school in Montgomery County, Maryland and so we really had to be on our best behavior because we represented her. My dad was a prominent businessman.

One of my dear friends and colleagues, Devon Bandison has a talk, Co-Creating the Bridge and he asks the question, “What question has been running underneath you?” From all of my life, it’s been, “Am I safe?” Now, it’s varying degrees. It hasn’t stopped me from being a pilot. It hasn’t stopped me from being an executive. It hasn’t stopped me from being a successful business owner. If I walk into a restaurant, if I walk into a store, I’m aware of my color where other people don’t have to ever be aware. It’s emotional labor. My stepdaughter Sarah,

that I’ve been sharing with a lot of people on this from her viewpoint. What I love about this time is that the dialogue does feel different.

All we’re asking for is black lives matter, too. That’s all. It’s not about all lives matter. Of course all lives matter, but it’s the comma too, that T-O-O, that we’re looking for, at least I’m looking for, I’ll speak for myself. Because when I’m driving, I am aware that if I get pulled over, I know my procedures, keep my hands up here, identify myself and many times I’m like, ready to identify myself as former military because just in case that helps. Nobody should have to live in that kind of fear running underneath them.

What role do American conscious businesses and conscious business leaders have outside of the workplace?

One of the things that my step daughter Sarah put in her article and I think that I have so appreciated is many people will say, “What can we do to help?” and I will say, I will quote her, “It really is a white-on-white discussion now.”

Don’t tolerate jokes or comments about anybody – and not tolerating any disparaging remarks of others. We have too much work to do in this world to be talking about anybody behind their back. There’s no reason for it. I’ve talked to a lot with having coming from a Christian background. I’m really clear on the red text. Jesus’s primary commandment was love and that’s it. That’s where I come from all the time.

Also speaking up. One way I’ve advised some leaders is think of a past situation where they would have wanted to do better. Practice speaking up. Practice saying, “No. Let’s not have that conversation. No, it’s not okay to speak to somebody that way. Don’t you have anything else to do?” which my people always hear, ” You got some work to do rather than gossiping about people.” Those are some practical things people could do.

I also think it goes back to “Who are you being in this world? What are you taking a stand for? Who do you want to be known as? Do you want to be known as a true leader?” It doesn’t mean you’re going to not make mistakes. I make plenty. I’m first in line for the mistakes, but it is recovery plans – re-centering. It is coming back to your creed, to your own personal value of, “What you want to be known for? How do you want to be thought of – what’s your legacy? Do you want to be known as someone who lifts people up or tears people down? My highest creeds are love and gratitude and peace and joy and creativity.

Which authors have influenced you the most and that you are grateful for their inspiration and wisdom?

There’s a great book by Ron and Mary Hulnick, Remembering the Light Within. That’s one of the books that I go to. There’s The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks. All the books by Steve Chandler.

One of the principles in Making Yourself Indispensable is the wheel, the wheel of accountability- we centered versus me centered. Being values driven. Being purpose driven. All of those things on the spoke of the wheel helped me grow more as a leader as well.

This is a perfect time to reset. It has a journaling part that has to do with for me, I used to be super hypercritical of my own self and my own behavior at work. I get to the end of the day and judge myself. I had to learn so it’s a technique that I use to learn how to shift to being to seeing myself as successful and it’s been really helpful with my clients as well.

The Year in Review

What a year. It’s hard to believe it is almost over. It seems to have gone by so fast but when I stop to look at what took place this year…WOW…It’s been quite a year.

I have been “off the grid,” so to speak, wrapped up in manifesting. I manifested something spectacular and peculiar and frustrating and wonderful, all at the same time. I must admit, I have done my fair share of whining over the past couple of months but over the last few days, I’ve been thinking about 2008 and my accomplishments. Sure, I tried some things that didn’t work out but I learned from them…I hope. I had great fun, lots of laughter, a few tears, some heartache, but overall, a really good year

In a few days, on December 31st, I will begin my annual ritual (really biannual as I do this on my birthday as well) and I will write in my red velvet journal my mother gave me years ago. That day I will write my year in review…mostly from a success perspective and all that I’ve accomplished. And, on January 1st, I will write my “intentions” for the year ahead. In

I write a lot about setting intentions, coming from the core of who we are and what wants to be expressed through us. I have specific areas that I will set intentions for, which I will share in a later post.

I so look forward to this time. It’s truly magical both in realizing my ability to survive all that life has to offer and my ability to dream and have hope for the future.

If you haven’t looked for your successes this year, now is the time. Over the next few days, keep a running list of accomplishments…even if the year has been tough for you, I know you can find a few. Find the good in your life and be grateful for what you do have in this moment…right this moment. And, have hope for the future.

Independence Day has always been a very special holiday for me, especially as a former US Navy pilot having served this extraordinary country.

Now as a Rapid Transformation Coach and Therapist, it’s taken on a new significance. The most common request from clients as the outcome of their Rapid Transformation Therapy (RTT) session is freedom. “Not from tyranny or oppression,” as it says in one of my favorite speeches from the movie Independence Day, but from, as one client said, the straight jacket of their own beliefs. Clients come to me feeling like they have hit a ceiling in their lives of how much money or joy they can experience. Or, they know there is so much more they could do with their lives, or they have an over-reactivity to situations that they just can’t seem to control which may be jeopardizing their career, or they have other self-sabotaging behavior, or they even have a medical diagnosis that is holding them back in some way.

I live in a world of ANDs…blocks come from the territory of ORs.

I have known for decades now that many of those ors or challenges stem from events in our younger lives where that younger self created a meaning, a misinterpretation, a belief that confined them or limited them in what they thought they could do or achieve in their lives. It capped them in some way. Most adults don’t know that their younger selves that came up with those beliefs and blocks are still running inside them today.

And, many of my clients are super successful, until they are not. They’ve achieved tremendous accomplishments by hard work and focus, but then hit a wall, a ceiling, a feeling that it’s all going to crumble or they experience an unexplained sadness at the top of their game.

Through the RTT session, we discover the three to five scenes from their childhood that are the root cause beliefs that have been confining and prohibiting them from living their best lives.

One of the things I love most is about the work I do is that because sessions are via Zoom, I get to witness visually how much lighter and brighter a client is at the end of that session. It’s like a mask and/or weight has been lifted from them.

           They feel free.

You may be wondering what can you do on your own if you feel blocked or stuck in your life. Here are some steps you can take:

Grab some sheets of paper or journal.

Write down what the issue is that you are experiencing. Here are some examples:

You’ve hit a plateau in your career and you can’t seem to move to the next level. Ask yourself, what did I hear about work from my parents or guardians growing up, i.e., you have to work hard, it’s grueling, people like us don’t get ahead.

You’ve hit a plateau with how much money you make. What did you hear about money growing up? If you’ve been at the same number for the last few years, who told you that’s all that you’re worth? What does it mean to go beyond that amount? Do you have to work harder and there’s just no more to give?

With regard to relationships, what did you learn about love growing up? Did you see healthy relationships modeled for you? Did someone say or infer that you were not worthy of love?

Whatever the issue, take a few moments and apply loving and forgiveness to yourself. Be kind and recognize that it’s learned behavior and that you can actually CHOOSE a new path now that you have the awareness.

On a fresh piece of paper, that you will not burn, answer this most important question, if your life was ideal, what would you like now? What would you like to create?

Looking at your answers to number four, what’s one action you can take in the next 24-48 hours.

If it’s a plateau in your career, what might be one step that you could take to move to the next level? It could be setting up a meeting with your boss to discuss a promotion plan. I was an expert at getting promoted so I love doing this work with people.

And, if you want a relationship, how are you loving and being kind to yourself? We first have to fall in love with ourselves, understand what we like and dislike, sometimes even give ourselves permission to have an opinion, and seek someone who has similar values, hobbies and dreams as you do. More on that in another post.

Take action on the smallest step you could take to advance your goal.

Celebrate! Acknowledge yourself for doing any part of this exercise. From celebration comes the inner encouragement to take one more step.

The above exercise works on the conscious level. The work I do is on the subconscious, to get at the places that we can’t access on our own. Sometimes we have traumatic pasts that require someone who understands the subconscious to help free us so that we can move forward.

What I’ve found for myself and my clients is that RTT is phenomenal in its speed and depth of clearing to allow for great clarity, creativity and expansion in our lives.

Why Coaching & Hypnotherapy Works

My clients have always achieved great success from the work I do with them on clearing the beliefs that came forward on the conscious level. Once cleared, so much creativity and focus was available. However, I began to notice that what I once thought was the root cause beliefs had other tentacles and offshoot beliefs that at some point undermined their progress.

I began to search for what would create a breakthrough for my clients.

Then I discovered Rapid Transformational Therapy. RTT was created by Marisa Peer and allows me to add hypnotherapy to my coaching Super Power of locating the root cause beliefs and triggering events that keeps people from actualizing their dreams and goals. Now I get to work on both the conscious and subconscious level to accelerate healing and achievement of lifelong dreams. And, NO, it’s not the hypnotherapy you see on stage in Vegas. I’m not going to make anyone cluck like a chicken ?

As a result of the RTT process, people uncover the source of their struggle to make money or hold on to it, feelings of anxiety or worry, experiencing disconnection or confusion about their purpose. Since I began and in very rapid time, issues of self-confidence, low self-esteem, self-destructive patterns, physical symptoms, and money droughts have started to heal and transform.

Clients receive a personalized audio I create during the session which they listen to for 21 days to rewire their new mindset. Many love the recording so much, they listen multiple times a day and well beyond the 21 days to amplify and complete the rewiring process.

I love my clients and am committed to assisting them in clearing the sub/unconscious things that hold them back as quickly as possible, and then help them rapidly achieve their dreams and heart’s desires. This has just taken the coaching work I do to an extraordinary new level. This doesn’t replace what I’ve been doing. Just allows me to move the stuck places faster, whether around wealth/success blocks which is about a third of the work I do, or helping others figure out what’s next when they have plenty of money/success, or in any other areas clients might need assistance with.

I will be writing up case studies and posting them on the site so come back again. If you’re curious about clearing the stuck places in your career of life or achieving a new level of success,

It’s hard to believe we’ve already completed three months of 2009! I’d ask where did it go but I know. I recently started a new job and moved to a lovely new city, a beautiful manifestation, so lots of time has been spent there. I’ve definitely neglected my writing but I have 5 mindmaps ready to go all on manifesting in these times.

I have been coaching and teaching people about attracting more abundance in the current environment because people really are. These times are just a correction. I don’t use the “R” word. Of course I know people affected by the economy but when one of my closest friends called to tell me that she’d lost her job and blamed it on the economy, I said it had nothing to do with the economy. There was a long pause on the phone. I followed up with the quesion, “Let me ask you this, was that job killing you?” I knew it was and she said, “Yes.” We have similar spiritual beliefs, so my next question was, “have you gotten the sense from God that you were to do something else or look for another job?” Again she answered, “Yes.” I spent the next 30 minutes or so coaching her about what to do next, where to place her thoughts, and teaching her to reconnect to who she truly is. The synchronicities that have occurred for her since then have been remarkable, beautiful and a great reminder that when we listen, really listen, not in fear, we are so guided and provided for.

I, too, have to listen and take action and believe and dream. I did write my intentions for this year on December 31, 2008. In a couple of days, I’ll pull them out and see how I’m doing and see if any need adjusting. I’m grateful I took this opportunity to connect with one of my intentions for this year and write here tonight. And, I’m looking forward to sharing more thoughts on manifesting in these times.

I saw the word “simulator” while reading a book recently and my soul lit up with memories. As a former Navy helicopter pilot, I know simulators. Loved them in fact. I got really good at administering them as a Standardization Pilot ensuring pilots entering or returning to the fleet were fully qualified. I was hard on students in the simulators as an instructor, because we needed to prepare for worst case scenarios out in the real world.

is really a visualization and tactile simulator. It’s a way to see and feel into the next level of wealth and success you want in your life. Instead of worst case scenarios like we had in the Navy, you simulate a best case scenario for your life ahead.

At the beginning of the WTJ there is a long description of how to choose a goal/intention that is at least 50% believable and how to use the journal as a guide to experience and track your wealth expansion. One of the keys is a question you can walk in each day…What would it feel like to be at your next level? Wear the answer like a well-worn and well-loved coat. Be mindful not to take a big jump in your goal to the next level…you could flame out your own engine.

An example would be choosing a goal of making $100,000+ next year when you’re making $28,000. It’s not a bad goal. You’ll just need a lot of power, belief, to get there IF, BIG IF, you don’t set some intermediate goals. The same is true if you made $600,000 and shooting for $2 million. I walk both types of clients through a simulation type process to establish the intermediate goals that opens them to greater creativity., What I’ve seen with myself and countless others is that a dream too big paralyzes us and leads to inaction. Through the simulation, I’ve actually seen them exceed their goals, which is so fun for me to witness.

So, I LOVE the word simulator and pairing it with “The Wealth Simulator.” Stay tuned as I will be sharing more tips, tools, techniques and some fun military stories along the way.

The Working Coach Concept – Part I

I am currently working with several clients that are new coaches and shared a term that came forward about a year ago that I am helping them with that I feel is very important in the coaching industry.

I use the term “Working Coach”. I’m a working coach. I’ve created a business that is sustainable month to month and provides great service to my clients.

When new clients come to me, many aren’t making much money but they want to be 6 figure coaches their first year or they want to be what’s commonly known in my circle as a $50k coach, where clients pay them $50k per year to work with them. The challenge is that when I ask them on our initial calls how much they have made the previous year, it may be in the $20k-$50k range. They have lofty…wonderful…dreams which I refer to fanciful dreams…they could come true…with a lot of hard work…but not necessarily will come true.

Now for those of you who know me, my “fanciful” comment may seem like a contradiction to what I talk about in dreaming big if you believe it you can have it work stemming from Wayne Dyer, Joseph Murphy and Abraham-Hicks.

It is a bit of a contradiction but not really.

The first thing I start working with new clients on is identifying and clearing the beliefs that have stopped them from achieving what they say they want. Those are what I call the Root Cause Beliefs(TM) (RCB). These are beliefs that we, most of us, pickup from parents, guardians, teachers, etc., about who we can be or become in the world. Once we identify those beliefs, more creativity and clarity is available for them to hear and see what they can create.

Next we work on building momentum in their business. We…

Identify what it is they would work with someone on

           Who they already know

How to get in conversation with people

What to say when they do connect

What it means to be of true service

Coaching is an amazing and honorable profession. But it is a profession. I’ve heard my coach, Steve Chandler, say many times that this is the only profession where personal development is a requirement. It’s so true. AND mastery of this profession requires work and continuous training to be of service to our clients. Many new coaches want what they perceive as the master coach lifestyle where they work 10 hours a week and make 6+ figures in pay and take vacations when they want. Yes, there are coaches like that but what they don’t see is ALL the hours those coaches put into getting to that level.

Mastery in coaching does take time and does require building momentum. It also requires being of tremendous service to clients and perspective clients. It is a job in the beginning…not like most corporate, medical, or legal jobs of working 50+ hours a week though. But it does take consistent action in building a business. It helps to work with coaches who have been at this a while and experienced success. This concept of a working coach helps them to buckle down and be of service to more and more people.

I love my clients and the work I do. I have a full calendar of clients which is about 20-25 hours a week of actual coaching. And, because my business has always been a referral business, I do have people referred to me on a weekly basis and I make time to serve them in whatever way I can.

Another aspect of a working coach is making enough money to pay bills and taxes, get out of debt, pay for personal development and their own coach, create an emergency fund, save for the future (different from emergency fund) ,and YES saving for and taking wonderful vacations.

It’s so possible in this profession to have it all…a great business, great relationships, fabulous things. And, it takes consistent action in creating a viable, working business that will support you and all of your dreams. Building momentum can absolutely lead to those fanciful dreams coming true.

It starts with the concept of being a working coach that serves many many people and helps their dreams come true.

I get a lot of questions about God and money. Many people struggle with the question of asking for money from God and feeling greedy, even guilty. Most have heard the phrase, “Money is the root of all evil.” That’s actually a misquote from the Bible.

Okay Women, It’s time to get promoted!

There’s been so much in the news lately about the gender pay gap between men and women. And recently, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella received criticism for his comments at a women’s computer science conference for saying that it’s good Karma for women not to ask for a raise.

Prior to that statement, he spoke about how HR systems are long-term efficient, short-term inefficient, meaning that over time, you’ll get the right compensation. While that can happen, it doesn’t always. The challenge is that women generally start out making less than their male counterparts. I saw this time and time again in my corporate career and it’s hard to catch up if you start too low.

As a former hiring manager, it was so painful to be interviewing a woman and when asking for their salary requirements, hearing a number that was $20,000 or more less per year than their male counterparts were asking for…and making. And, there were several challenges with just putting them at the same salary as the men. First, they didn’t know their own worth. If a woman is asking for $45,000 a year and suddenly makes $70,000, and doesn’t know and really own that that’s what she should be making, energetically she could perform poorly and/or sabotage her career as a result of feeling unworthy or undeserving. Second, if they’re already making less, in this example $40,000 and they are asking for $45,000 and male candidates are asking for even $65,000+ but not as qualified, HR may question is this the right candidate…can they really do the job. Or they might make the manager keep them at a lower salary to save the company money.

So what did I do? I swore the women candidates to secrecy, asked them not to ever repeat the number they gave me out loud again and got them as close as I could without telling them that they might be still underpaid. At least they were close and I could make it up later on a promotion…hint hint…I’ll get to more about that later.

Thankfully, Maria Klawe, Mr. Nadella’s interviewer, disagreed with him. She gave two great pieces of advice.

Do your homework. This goes for every industry. It pained me one day to hear the top salaries of the TV sitcom males vs females. The top males were making over $350,000 per episode, where as the top females were making less than half! UGH…not to mention the amounts per episode in general…just saying. In sharing that salary discrepancy with a female actor, I really heard her concern that with so many other actors going for the same role, she didn’t want to be pushy. However, there’s so much power in doing your homework and understanding what is possible. For those of you in corporate, go to salary.com and research salaries based on your job title and your location. It’s not 100% accurate in all situations and at least you’ll know the range of possibilities.

Role play. Once you know what the salary range is…PRACTICE. Practice with trusted friends and family members (the operative word is trusted…that’s a whole other blog I could write…). Practice in the mirror, shower, driving, etc, so you don’t choke on the words, say them as if you’re a mouse, or I’ve even seen someone shout it…out of sheer nervousness. Practice until you can say it with a straight face and you really own it inside.

Remember my hint hint above? Making more money is not always about getting a raise, by the way. Yes, it’s absolutely about being excellent about what you do. And, if you are, it’s about moving up the ladder, whether toward managing people or becoming what’s called a “subject matter expert.” There were definitely times when I inherited a team member that just was grossly underpaid compared to the team and I had to give them a raise to get them in the zone. But, it was far easier for me to get someone promoted because of their demonstrated excellence…even in tough economic times and promotion freezes.

There are some key elements to getting promoted. I’ve heard many women say, “they should just notice I’m doing a good job. I shouldn’t have to ask.” Yes and no. Your boss doesn’t know ALL that you do, especially if they’ve got more than 2 people they are managing. You must showcase your talents, skills and accomplishments in a way that they see you. Most men do this very well…much better than women. And, it’s just education…and I’ll do my best to help you…

Lessons from Paddle Tennis

This morning I had my second lesson with my new paddle tennis coach, Gino. This is a new adventure for me and my husband. We’ve walked by the Venice Paddle Tennis courts for years and are now finally participating.

As I watched my husband in his lesson and how Gino was coaching him, I saw so many analogies to how I work with my clients and how my coach, the amazing Steve Chandler, works with me. My husband is an athlete so he approaches the sport very differently from me. His competitive nature kicks in. His “want” to excel drives him. And, Gino is teaching him to slow down and learn the mechanics…don’t worry, I’ll get to my lessons in a moment. Mark used to play tennis and is learning new techniques for a shorter court. It’s fascinating watching him learn and utilize his skills from different sports to adapt to this sport.

A few years ago, I heard a great quote from football Hall of Famer, Troy Aikman. When asked about the secret to his success, Troy answered, “A short memory.” I was reminded of this quote when Gino cautioned Mark this morning as he witnessed Mark’s frustration with not hitting the ball perfectly, to let go of each hit as they happen. He couldn’t carry the memory of the last hit to the next or he’d be behind the ball.

And, how often do we do that in life? Many people carry the frustrations of our past, judgments of ourselves and regret over lost opportunities into the present which means we are not available for what is happening now.

When I work with my clients, we visit the past ONLY in service to upgrading beliefs that are blocking us in the present. If there is a misunderstanding or misinterpretation about an event from our childhood, it could still be operating in us and holding us back from moving forward in the present towards what we really want to experience in our lives. And, all we really have is the present anyway. The opportunities and choices we have right now is what matters and the shorter our memory, the less we remember our judgments, what people said about what we could or couldn’t do decades ago. We get to choose anew each moment and swing again.

So what was my big lesson? Follow through. I have an issue on the court with hitting the ball but not keep the racket moving across my body and to not keep moving my feet forward. I stop in my tracks. In life, I have “shiny object syndrome,” where I complete a new project but then move to something new. There are opportunities when I complete projects for me to stick with them and follow through and go deeper with it and continue moving forward…versus stopping or moving sideways to something else. And, it’s fun for me that I get to work with my clients on similar issues.

Oh yeah, and the short memory things is important for me as well.

I’m thrilled to be learning and being a beginner myself and seeing the lessons that will help my clients as well. More to come…

So do this…say the word “Wealth” inside and ask yourself, what would it feel like to have this position? What would I be doing? How would I hold myself? What would it feel like to receive congratulations on my new position and have people say, “wow, you are so the right person for that job. They got a great person when they hired you!” See yourself put the title in your email signature. What will it feel like when you get that first paycheck?

Wealth to me is so much more than just money. It’s about well-being and health, happiness, and a fullness to life. Money allows us to do things we enjoy, and respond to life in more comfortable ways. If there is an emergency, you have money to be of assistance, to handle issues or to fly where you need to. If you don’t have money, your choices are limited. I know what it’s like to be broke. I filed for bankruptcy many years ago and had two homes foreclosed on. While I was still recovering financially, I had to make money decisions that equated to this or that? I held off on many things that, in hindsight, I wish I hadn’t. One such event was I missed my grandmother’s 90th birthday party. I couldn’t afford the trip, didn’t want to ask for money and was defiant about not going. I didn’t know that my great aunt was sick and that would have given me the opportunity to see her before she passed away. Or that my grandmother’s memory was failing and in the years after that when she lived with my parents, she wouldn’t always remember my name. She recognized me, and knew she loved me, just didn’t hear my name said much.

I know the weight of debt, the worry when someone runs your credit card, or how it feels like an elephant is sitting on your chest as you might be having trouble breathing under the weight of it all.

Wealth is the ability to be present in the moment and not worrying. Wealth is about a feeling. Are you safe in this moment? Are you physically safe is one part of that question. If you’re not in a safe environment, get to one as quickly as possible. If you’re safe physically, are you safe mentally and emotionally? I know for me, my darkest days were when I was facing my financial challenges and I had to consciously choose to survive and figure out how to get myself out of the mess I made. I knew that if I played with suicidal thoughts, eventually I would cross a point of no return and I didn’t want to do that to my family, nor take the risk of being separated from God for eternity.

What would it feel like to have an extra $50 or $100 in your account? If you have more money but are still feeling the pressure of debt, what would it feel like for that pressure to be gone? To have breathing room, to have a sense of well-being? I’d love to know your answer so please comment below.

Finding Joy After Vacation

A couple of years ago, I returned from a wonderful vacation in Nice, France. I had been to the French Riviera when I was deployed in the Navy but that was some 20 years ago. I attempted to write posts while there but I found myself in a wonderful state of being and enjoying my surroundings. I will spare the world my attempts at writing in that state. It was the ramblings of a woman who hadn’t gotten away very often

It wasn’t until about 30 minutes before landing back at LAX that I had the thought, “Oh yeah, what do I want to take back from this trip.” I rushed to get thoughts on paper before returning to my “real” world. I focused on my priorities which include my spiritual practice, my relationship, my health and fitness, and my relaunching of Mission Abundance.

With regard to my corporate career, there were several things I wrote down but first and foremost was, “Find more joy by adding coaching and training.” I wrote that from the place inside that really knows what I want and the Universe really heard me. I returned to work the next day, Thursday, and for the next two days, all I did was coach and train my teams. It was so wonderful. I hadn’t had days like those since I started over a year and a half ago. I had personnel issues to deal with which for me is an awesome opportunity for me to work with someone on a deep level and facilitate them to greater awakening to their potential. I get that not all managers see it that way but I do and it’s amazing to see a team member see where there are opportunities to improve. And, to receive the response and appreciation from the numerous people I did get to coach over the last two days, my heart truly sang.

Many people asked if I was tired from jet-lag. Sure I was tired as I was having some difficulty convincing my body that it needed more than 3 or 4 hours of sleep. However, being on purpose, working with my teams rejuvenated and enlivened me in a way that I truly felt that I brought a bit of the French Riviera home with me.

I encourage anyone to use the last few minutes of reentry into your life from vacation to answer the question of how you will bring the peace, the joy and/or contentment from your trip back into your world and use it to reignite your heart’s desires.

One of the many blessings of this last year is that I had the opportunity to coach someone as they went through seemingly devastating financial trouble. It has given me the opportunity to revisit all that I went through during my financial issues many years ago. Some of the coaching I’ve done with them has been some of my best coaching ever. I have decided to capture some of the lessons here to share with whomever can use them.

Protecting Your Dreams

I am frequently asked about how to protect your dreams when loved ones aren’t supportive. Here’s my response:

Our loved ones don’t want to see us hurt and many times unconsciously don’t want to be hurt so it can be difficult for them to support our dreams. They may not even know that it’s their own fears that they are reacting to.

So what can you do? You can protect your dream like a new seedling in the ground. You might put a small energetic fence around it to protect it by not sharing it openly. You should water it regularly by visualizing your success, keeping nurturing images and affirmations around you, and believing that your dream is dreaming of you realizing it. Believe that the world needs your music.

And last, honor the growth process of your dream. Dreams have their own timing and their own magnitude. Some dreams were meant to be global and some were meant to just be realized. Allow your dream to come to life in the way it knows best. Allow it to grow roots and have a strong foundation. Allow it to grow with the water and sunlight and stretch for the skys. There will be rain showers or even storms but the stronger the roots, the stronger the foundation, the stronger the dream can grow into. And, take small, consistent actions every day. Oh yes, and send everyone around you love and light as you go for your dream.

I go into much more detail of making your dreams come true in

I’d love to know any questions you may have or if you have other ways of protecting your dreams.

Masters in Spiritual Psychology?

I have been asked many times about my Masters in Spiritual Psychology. Recently I was asked to sit on the Graduate Panel for an information night at the

           University of Santa Monica

(USM). I had such a fabulous time sharing my wins from school.

One of the number one questions people have about this degree is what does one do with it? On the panel with me was a medical doctor, a clothing designer, and a talent agent. Each of us talked about the difference the degree has made in our lives, the fulfillment of our dreams, and how we are with people. I focused on how prior to USM I had some communications issues. Having been military for 9 years and growing up in a very disciplined family, I could be a bit rough around the edges. And, I had been quite successful in my career with regard to getting things done and accomplishing tasks. However, what I knew was that the person that I was when I was with my friends was (is) a kind, loving, generous, caring person. But that’s not who showed up to work each day. Dr. Ron Hulnick, president of USM, says that we leave 70% of our real selves in the car when we go into our office buildings. Well, I was leaving about 90% in the car. And, I desperately wanted to change that.

One wonderful aspect of USM is that we learned 35 basic communication skills. And, because I really wanted to improve my communication at the office, I asked for tuition reimbursement and it was granted. About 1/3 of my Masters of Arts in Spiritual Psychology was covered by my company! How cool is that! I continue to use those skills every day as a coach, a teleclass leader and a people manager. I did get challenged by the reimbursement department the second year but my boss and I both spoke to the tremendous improvements I had made on the job. And, with my friends? I got to be more loving, more kind, more joyful and more compassionate than ever. I can honestly say that I get to take 90% of my authentic self into work each day and it’s such a great feeling!

Our Faith in Spring

I recently returned from the East coast to the West coast. What a difference a few hours makes. When I left New York it was 50 degrees with the sun shining. Much of the weekend was a high of 43. For a California girl, in March, that’s just unnatural. The week before I had been in crop pants and sandals enjoying the warmth. For those of you in colder parts of the world, I know you’re calling me a wimp. And, I am!

Just a few days ago, we entered Spring which is clearly evident in California by the budding trees and flowers. It has yet to emerge on the East coast, where the ground is still hard and the trees barren. And yet, I know the season is changing there even without clear evidence. It must, it’s nearly time based on our calendar.

As with our own dreams, we may be believing for something to bloom in our lives and come to fruition. And, we’ve been believing for some time with no evidence of movement or new life. We may not have the same confidence we have when we know it’s Spring. We may not have the faith needed to believe all the way to the seen with our dreams.

But the Law of Attraction states that what we focus on expands and attracts to us. And, biblically, Hebrews 11:1 states: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (KJV)

So, if we have a dream that we’ve been believing for, what if we did have the same faith we have in Spring? What if we looked for the buds of our dreams, the small shifts in the Universe that showed we are on the right track? What if we held a position of knowing that the Universe heard our prayers and was delivering to us what we were believing for? Would it not amplify our use of the Law of Attraction? Would we hold on longer to our dreams, give up less, stay focused, and know that our heart’s desires were just around the corner?

What an amazing time Spring is and I shall now wait with more faith knowing that my own spring, my own new creations, my own dreams, will bloom, too.

           Many Blessings,

I Yielded

I am in the process of reading “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle. I am trying to read as fast as I can as Oprah’s class begins tonight. I found myself on the pages yesterday and had to share. In a section marked, “The Peace That Passes All Understanding,” on page 57, he writes, “Whenever tragic loss occurs, you either resist or you yield. Some people become bitter or deeply resentful; others become compassionate, wise, and loving. Yielding means inner acceptance of what is. You are open to life.”

I was so struck by that statement. That has truly been my experience, I could have become bitter, jaded, angry and yet I found more love, more compassion, more contentment with my life and all that I do have. And, I am far more grateful than I ever could have dreamed as I write about in “Journey.”

It is so cool to find oneself in someone else’s words. I love it when I do and it helps remind me that someone else knows, shares and/or understands “my” story. We are truly not alone on this journey. We are all connected.

The Firestorm Within

As I write, we here in California are experiencing a Federal State of Emergency in Southern, CA. My area is fairly safe from fires with the nearest approximately 15-20 miles away which seems close but it isn’t.

I am praying for safety for all and that an angelic, thick, foam of fire retardant and extinguishing agents miraculously covers the area and puts out the fires. I also think about how this takes form in my own life. The three things that contributed to the fires spreading are overgrown, dry brush, lack of humidity and high winds. So, when I look within I wonder where is the overgrown weeds that are cluttering my thoughts or dreams? Where in my life have I planted good seed that needs moisture and nurturing? And, where in my life do I have high winds, too much talk, not enough action or, where I’m letting a whirlwind of thoughts cause confusion or mayhem? Years ago, I was in an operational job that seemed to have lots of emergencies. I found myself “backlighting” fires on myself that got out of control by not paying attention to ALL that was going on. I would be too focused on the big emergencies, fires, and missing the small embers that were smoldering behind me.

Today, as I think of constructive thoughts as the fires rage outside, I realize there are three things I need to do to prevent my own firestorm:

Cutback the shrubs and weeds from my dreams. Watch my words since “words have life.” Speak and think only of good. I attended a workshop this weekend by Greg Mooers of

            www.lifecamp.com

where he asked us to spend 3 to 1 the amount of time talking and mental focus/prep on our dreams versus dwelling on the past.

Remember to nurture and water my dreams and goals. Don’t let them dry up from neglect. Visualize and keep pictures in front of me of what I want to accomplish.

Meditate. When my mind chatter gets out of control, I haven’t spent time in silence meditating. The other culprit is when I’m not living in the present moment. I’m either future fantasizing or catastrophizing (made up word ) or reliving the past. In the present there is only now. “Am I safe right now?” “Yes.” And, breathe…breathe…breathe…

If you pray, please pray for no wind and that the fires miraculously go out, just like turning off a gas stove. If you don’t pray, send good thoughts and love to those who are living the devastation of their homes. And, take a moment to Weed, Water and Meditate as necessary for your own life and dreams. Oh yes, and be grateful.

           Abundant Blessings, Kamin

My dear friend, Felicia Slattery sent me an email back in March saying that she had tagged me which meant that she had listed my site as one of the blogs she’s hung out at. Well, she got me again. Second time’s a charm. She has asked me to share 5 favorite websites. The rules of the tag are:

Another site by Valerie is Fast Track to Your Dreams community. I joined this community back in January and it truly has been a life changing opportunity. It gave me the resources and support I needed to follow my dreams to write, teach and speak.

There is a man at my day job that whenever asked how he’s doing, always answers “Living the dream.” He always has a great smile and seems to be happy no matter what is going on around us.

Recently, I thought about that statement for my own life. I had to smile because I realized in many, nearly all, ways I am living my dream.

I haven’t been writing my blog for the last couple of months because I’ve been writing/teaching/speaking which I discovered earlier this year are my core passions. I identified them when I read and took

I have 2 ebooks that I have been working feverishly on to complete. They will be on my website within a month. One of them has been in the works (mostly running around in my head) for over 10 years and I’m very excited to release her to the world. Nervous, too, but that’s to be expected.

As for teaching, I completed teaching a 4-week teleseries called “Reconnect to Your Dreams and Jumpstart Your Life.” I used the second ebook to teach from during the series which was a great tool to discover dreams and take action. My speaking dream was fulfilled, also through a teleclass, I gave on the online community Ryze. I am now actively looking for addition ways to teach and speak.

So, are you living your dreams? If not, when is your turn to start making your dreams a reality?

Run Through the Dream

This morning I was watching my 6 year-old nephew’s baseball game. One of his teammates hit the ball and started for first base. His first base coach was yelling for him to run and then yelled, “Don’t look around. Run for the base!” I had already been mulling over the idea of focusing on the goal, when this perfect example appeared right before me amongst a game of first graders.

As the youngster started to look around, there was a moment of hesitancy that allowed the ball to reach first base ahead of him. In this particular game, he wasn’t out as the rules are modified for the younger kids. However, have you ever seen this a track and field event, where even a split second can cause an opponent to blow past and win.

Well it’s the same when we go for our dreams. If we look around too much, if we compare ourselves to others, it can cause hesitancy within us. Questions and comparisons can arise like: “What was I thinking” or “Who am I to do this” or “It’s already been done” or “Wow, look how successful they are. I can’t do that.”

This entry is a reminder for me to run my own race, don’t look to the left or right, just run full steam ahead. I can get distracted by looking around and need to stay focused, as I’ve written before My race is steady and sure, as long as I don’t try to compete or compare with anyone else.

One of the other lessons the coaches at my nephew’s game were teaching the children was to run through the base. Don’t just barely tap the base but run full steam ahead all the way through the base. Another great lesson for goal setting. Have you ever reached a goal and you just limped in? The goal took every ounce of energy just to barely make it? Well I have. Now, with that image of those coaches on the field screaming to the little ones to run through the base, I can look at my dreams and goals and set an intention to run through achieving them, full speed, to tag the dream, and go for more.

Shiny Pennies

A few weeks ago, I was talking to one of my coaches (yes, I get coached, too) and she asked how she could support me with the projects that I am working on. I mentioned that I sometimes have difficulty focusing. I have lots of interests and can get a bit distracted. She immediately said, “Shiny Pennies.” Oh, I had to laugh and acknowledge that I love shiny pennies! I’m constantly finding new things to try, study and buy. I have many, many pennies. However, as we analyzed them, I realized my shiny pennies have gone from a wide array of interests to a narrowing path. My beautiful pennies are starting to show a direction, a plan, a focus. Many of my pennies have guided me to clarify my passions and purpose as a teacher/writer/speaker.

I am so grateful for my many pennies. Understanding my path has allowed me to make better choices when other pennies present themselves. I simply ask, “does this support my passion or purpose?” If not, it’s not my penny. I am now able to set clearer intentions and follow through with greater ease and grace.

How about you? Where are your pennies? Are they scattered about? Do you notice any similarities in your pennies? Is there one penny that’s shining brighter than the others as if to say “pick me, pick me?” It could be a dream you’ve had that just doesn’t want to let you go but doesn’t seem possible either. It could also be a feeling inside that you’re just not living your purpose? Take a look at your pennies and see if they might just be showing you a path to your passions and purpose.

What Looks Like Lazy…

can be so many other things. I recently coached someone regarding going for a new job. We discussed the actions he should take and the next steps. And…nothing. There are times that I am tempted to get frustrated when someone doesn’t follow through, but how can I? I know for them, as I know for myself, that it’s not lazy. I have watched myself over the years not do something I needed to or not go after something I want. I used to say I was a procrastinator. But I know better now. Sometimes is just plain old fear. But that fear holds information. What am I afraid of? What am I afraid will happen to me? Am I ready to do that thing I’m putting off? Do I need more information? Is the timing right? Is it fear of looking stupid or making a mistake? That’s been a big one for me to deal with. I’m a recovering Virgo perfectionist. I work at being willing to be less than perfect and being willing to simply try.

And, sometimes I have to trick myself. Yesterday, I needed to send a long overdue email requesting assistance from someone (another challenge of mine, asking for help ). On the way home I had to stop at Target for a few things. And, since it’s Easter season, my favorite candy, the Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs are in stock. I’m only allowed to buy 1, though. So, I promised myself that I could have the egg after dinner and only after I sent the email. Boy that egg tasted great knowing that I had followed through on my promise. Sometimes I have to set a timer for 15 minutes to get something started or completed. And, sometimes I journal to work out the feelings that are present and holding me back from doing what I know I must. And, sometimes it’s recognizing the difference between a “should” and a “must” and following my heart.

So, no more labeling lazy or procrastinator. There’s just some nugget of growth behind it that needs to come forward. Some stone to look under and say “hmm, isn’t that interesting. I wonder what I’m afraid of?” and then go conquer it.
Life Happens

Sometimes life gets in the way of our dreams. And, we have to deal with it. I started to apologize for having not written in a while, to whom I’m not sure, mostly to myself. But there isn’t anything to apologize for. Life happens…and sometimes our dreams, desires, and goals need to take a back seat while we put out the fires of life. For me, my day job as a web manager, took precedence, and nearly all of my energy too, for the last month or so. We had a project that needed everyone at the company’s attention and, since I consciously manifested this well-paying job, every once and a while it extracts payment. I’m smiling at that last sentence. It’s actually quite profound. If only I’d thought of that when I was in the middle of our turmoil and could have said “It’s only extracting a payment for services rendered and payments received.” I have told my teams over the years that there are days when they will be so underpaid for their hard work and there will be days when they are so overpaid (due to ‘hurry up and wait’) that they’ll feel like they should have given back some money. It all balances out. So, I just went through a balancing period

Our dreams and our lives balance out, too. Over the last few weeks, I kept visualizing, coaching, reading, taking classes, and learning something every day for my business. I kept the pilot light of my dreams lit and now it’s time to turn up the flame.

So, when life happens, keep dreaming, keep visualizing, keep Believing (with a capital “B”), and keep moving forward, inch by inch, until you can rebalance.

What if you believe?

When that line came to me months ago, I was struck by how it truly represents who I am. One of the things that I am most known for is my encouragement to people to believe in themselves and to believe in their dreams.

What if you believe you can do anything? What if you believe that you were put here for an amazing purpose? What if you believe that the dreams in your heart that call to you, that truly scare you, is the Universe whispering it needs those dreams to come through you? What if you believe that there is someone, me, who believes with you and that together we can find a way to manifest your dreams?

I believe that whatever calls to you, whatever your heart desires, desires you. You are a unique creation and you deserve to realize your dreams. I also believe in “heaven on earth.” I believe that our job is to find our way back to that place…if even for a moment.

Have you ever experienced “heaven on earth?” I have, especially with my nieces and nephews. There’s nothing like when a child cups your face and looks into your eyes, while sucking his thumb. Or, holding my niece consoling her as she whimpers for her mother (who I’m trying to let sleep a few minutes longer) and she quiets down as long as I hold her. Or, a breathtaking sunrise over the mountains. Or, a gratitude walk with God, just appreciating everything I have in my life. Or, coaching a client and because of the connection and movement during our session, at the end, feeling like I’ve added to the sum total of loving in the Universe.

So, what if you believe that we’re suppose to have many, many, moments like that, both in your everyday life and in your work. What if you believe that it’s possible to do what you love and be prosperous? What if you believe that you have a right to be prosperous and abundantly supplied? And, what if you believe that anything is truly possible? How would you look at tomorrow? Would you see the abundance all around you? Would you answer the call on your life? Would you find a way to take just one single step toward making your dreams come true? Would you ask for help and find someone who could believe with you?

I am here to tell you “it” is possible…anything is possible. And, if that’s true, then dream big, take a chance and believe, and take a step in that direction and watch the magic. Watch as support comes from everywhere, and even the least likely places. Just believe.

           Many Blessings,
Kamin

“What the mind of man can conceive and believe, It can achieve.”

Hi and Welcome! If you are wondering how to pronounce my name, it’s Ca-meen, like El Camino. When I was young twenty-something, I used to use my name to distinguish friend or foe by how they pronounced it. With age comes wisdom and I’ve let go of the foe aspect. And, since I’m introducing myself we may not be friends just yet but we have manifested each other at this time for a reason. And so the adventure begins

You might as well know that I am new to the world of blogging. When it was first introduced, I remember reading someone’s blog and thinking this is their personal diary…and they probably shouldn’t be sharing these thoughts with the general public. It wasn’t until recently I discovered it is so much more.

I decided to go with the coins in the header because what I am most passionate about is helping people manifest more abundance in their lives. It’s what I’ve studied and what I know for myself. You can have abundance in many areas – finances, material possessions, health, friends, peace, joy. I mostly focus on finances but the principles I teach can be applied to anything. I used the same principles to attract more friends into my life years ago…amazing, beautiful, divine beings. I also used the same principles to attract a wonderful, awesome man (he’s divine too).

And, what I’m best known for amongst those who know me best is attracting money and things, including a beautiful car and a to-the-specification apartment (I’ll explain more about that in a later blog). I also attracted the school of my dreams…literally! In January 2003, I made the decision to take seriously my dream of studying psychology. For years I had looked at different schools and programs. Well, that February I happened to get snowed in at my sister’s home in the northeast. There had been a book staring at me the whole weekend and because of my delay due to weather, I read it. The book was

by Kenneth Blanchard. It is a gift size book and only took a few hours to read. When I closed that book, I turned to my sister and asked her to pray with me that I would find a “psychology program from a spiritual perspective.” I had already looked at seminaries and didn’t want to come from a particular religious perspective. I believe in God and wanted that to be a part of my learning. I don’t even recall what part of the book that gave me that knowing, I just knew. A couple of weeks after I returned from that trip, I had breakfast with a wonderful friend, Reverend Diane Harmony, author of one of my favorite books,

So, attracting and manifesting can take on many forms. Money is just one of them. Helping people attract more of what they want in their lives is my passion. I can talk on it all day…obviously It simply makes my heart sing. You see, I just believe that God, Higher Power, Spirit, Source or however you might refer to that presence that is with and in all things, wants us to have more. In the Bible it states, “[Christ] came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” I know what it’s like to go broke, be broke, and to be broken. I know what it’s like to lose everything and to find my way back to abundance in all areas.
